RHS Cardiff Flower Show

RHS Cardiff Flower Show

The season’s first major flower show kicks off this week as the RHS Flower Show Cardiff opens its doors with a riot of glorious daffodils to herald the arrival of spring.

Set against the magnificent backdrop of Cardiff Castle, the flower show is filled with all things floral. Bursting with displays and planting ideas from some of the UK’s finest plant nurseries, the show is designed to spark your imagination for the year ahead with an abundance of inspiration, showcasing ways you can get involved in the very best of gardening.

The show marks the start of the RHS show season and celebrates the glories of spring. Visitors can feast on the outstanding spring displays in the Floral Marquee, Plant Village and show gardens, while younger gardeners can explore a huge variety of exciting activities for children.

This year the show is celebrating the Year of the Sea, highlighting the astonishingly beautiful Welsh coastline with lots of activities and features. The National Museum of Wales is creating three greenhouse mini-laboratories, including one showcasing the National Waterfront Museum; and RSPB Cymru joins forces with Cardiff City Council and the conservation charity Buglife to recreate Cardiff Bay from a bird’s eye view.

Among ten inspiring show gardens created by Wales’s very best designers are a Japanese-inspired garden; a celebration of Welsh landscape complete with cave and waterfall; and a rain garden designed to absorb and make the most of excess rainwater. Three Regeneration gardens champion reusable materials, showing how a small budget used in clever ways can make big changes to gardens and outdoor spaces.

And to top off your visit, 60 of the UK’s best nurseries are bringing beautifully-grown plants, with lots of take-home ideas to celebrate this spring.

The RHS Flower Show Cardiff runs from 13-15 April at Bute Park, in Cardiff. For more details visit www.rhs.org.uk/cardiff.
